Mari shared a quote from President Utchdorf's talk that he gave during the General Relief Society Meeting, "Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty..."  Mari said, "As women, we have love the blessing of having the role of wife and mother, and also, the homemaker.  We can create a wonderful atmosphere in our homes and make them a haven.  You can do this in simple and affordable ways."

Home Decor Tips:

1.  Develop an eye for your style ( traditional, modern/contemporary, funky, etc.) and collect things over time.
   
2.  Policy:  Only buy things that you love. Do not buy things just because they are on sale.
3.  Simple touches that improve or transform a room:

                                       ~Rugs

                                       ~Drapes

                                       ~Pillows (throw pillows)

                                       ~Plants

                                       ~Personalize (frames with family and personal taste in pictures, art etc.)

                                      ~Accents (lamps, a few knick knacks)
            4. Decrease Clutter: use wicker baskets, decorative chest, etc.

Holiday Decor Tips:

1. Collect over time/sales from previous holidays
2. Use traditions or make traditions that bring in festive decor (example: thankful turkey for Thanksgiving  or gifts to Christ during Christmas)
